♥ As many as 30 people are feared dead after Interstate 35W collapsed sending cars, chucks of concrete and scraps of twisted metal into the Mississippi River at rush our in Minneapolis.
♥ A bad day at work was just the least of your worries?
♥ At least seven people were killed when an interstate bridge in Minneapolis, Minnesota, collapsed Wednesday evening, in what the governor called a "catastrophe of historic proportions."
♥ A dropped call was more than a bad network connection?
♥ The death toll did not include the 79 injured who were rushed to emergency rooms in the area in critical conditions and the 20+ still believed to be missing.
♥ Fate was on your side?
♥ Melissa Hughes, 32, said she was driving home across the bridge when she went down when the western edge in the collapse. "You know that free fall feeling? I felt that twice," said Hughes, who was not injured. A pickup truck ended up on top of her car, partially crushing the top and back end.
♥ You saw something that you couldn’t control?
♥ Police said strong river currents are making the recovery effort difficult and they do not expect to find any survivors.
♥ There was no time to think?
♥ Everyday people became heroes as survivors ran from car to car helping those trapped in burning or sinking vehicles. Thank those who risked their own lives to help those in need: those who didn’t think or hesitate, our angels without wings.
In a little less than the blink of an eye, rush hour commuters lost their lives, families lost their loved ones, and a nation found deficiencies in its structure…
